BY THE COMMUNITY FOR THE COMMUNITY
Free At Last embodies a new model of recovery – in the community, by the community and for the community. We believe people can recover at home, reclaiming and rebuilding our own community.
Free At Last has a strong, ethnically diverse, professional staff and Board that reflects the diversity of the community: 80% of the 7-member Board of Directors and 85% of the 33-member staff are local residents, and 75% to 80% are in recovery. Five staff members are HIV positive, and therefore are particularly sensitive to those clients (approx. 5%) who are also HIV positive.
“We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” --Martin Luther King
